In addition to its special emphasis on the 'historic drama' of Sir Ernest Shackleton's Endurance expedition, documented by the photographs of Frank Hurley, and on places Shackleton visited, the 'Trapped in the Ice' exhibition focuses on Antarctica and the Polar regions, climate change, the Southern Ocean, the earth's atmosphere, life and survival in extreme temperatures, scientific research and international cooperation, Spain's role in polar research, environmental protection and International Polar Year 2007/08 (concluding in March 2009).
