VIEW SOME REMARKABLE SNAPSHOTS OF THE INTERIOR OF SHACKLETON'S HUT
A number of sites of general Antarctic interest, and particularly those maintained by conservators and conservation groups, reveal some remarkable detail from the interior of Shackleton's Cape Royds hut.
One intriguing one is dubbed 'Kaibab Journal', which gathers together half a dozen pictures of the well-worn but remarkably preserved remains of the interior, including items for the expedition's use and a stove.
There are also several exterior views. The site also includes interior photos of the huts at Cape Evans and a host of other interesting Antarctic views.
Another visitor to Cape Royds kepts an Antarctic travel which can be read at the Armada Project site, an archive site for the TEA Program, in conjunction with the University of Rhode Island Office of Marine Programs, home to the ARMADA Project. The Armada Project is a mentoring and research experience program for K-12 teachers which has placed teachers in research projects all over the world, including the Arctic and Antarctic).
Here too are some fascinating, well-captured illustrations of items preserved in Captain Scott's similar hut at Cape Evans. The whole teacher's diary spans two months from arrival at McMurdo to departure and is worth a read or scan.
